“Stories I’ve Heard Behind the Bar”
Speaker: Christian
Sometimes, when the bar is running smoothly, I like to step behind the counter and actually talk to people. Over time, I’ve realized that Alchemy Bar has become a place where stories just appear.
The other night, I was talking to Zakia. She told me she had been travelling nonstop for work and that she felt exhausted but inspired. She said she had learned that listening to people was just as important as telling the news.
Later, Teachdan sat at the bar and laughed while he explained that he had fallen asleep on the bus after university and had woken up in the wrong town. He admitted that he had almost missed his stop twice that day, and he said he couldn’t believe how tired he had been.
Andrea was there too. She told me she had finally taken a break from her busy life in New York. She said that designing nonstop had made her forget how important it was to slow down sometimes.
At one point, a guy came in laughing and told me he had thought someone was following him in Chinatown. He explained that when he turned around, he had realized it was just a tiny corgi chasing him. He said he had felt ridiculous but relieved.
And then there was a woman who spoke very quietly. She told me that it would have been her grandfather’s birthday that day. She didn’t say much, but I could tell she was sad. I listened, served her drink, and later I realized that sometimes, people don’t need answers — they just need someone to listen.
