🎧 JUST LISTEN – MORNING BRIEFING

Fortier & Associates – Monday Morning Meeting

NATHALIE

Good morning, everyone.

Let’s begin.

I promise I won’t keep you here any longer than necessary.

NATHALIE

First…

A few housekeeping announcements.

The underground parking garage will be under maintenance for the next two weeks.

Until then, you’ll be using the parking facilities of the building next door.

Reception will send you the access codes before lunch.

Please remember…

You’re representing Fortier & Associates.

I’d rather not receive complaints from our neighbours.

NATHALIE

Secondly…

Because the company next door closes at five o’clock…

we’ll also be leaving at 5:00 p.m. during the maintenance period.

Apparently…

remaining productive after five has become an impossible task for some people.

Perhaps this arrangement will improve morale.

(A few employees exchange awkward smiles.)

NATHALIE

Now…

The good news.

Lemaire Chocolates has officially approved the campaign.

The client described it as…

“Elegant. Sophisticated. Exactly what we were looking for.”

Congratulations, André.

ANDRÉ

Thank you.

The visual identity has been approved, and production will begin next week.

The social media strategy is also being expanded, including influencer collaborations and a premium launch event.

We’re meeting the client again on Thursday to finalise the rollout schedule.

NATHALIE

Excellent.

That’s exactly the standard this agency is known for.

EMILIA

Actually…

I had another idea.

What if we partnered with luxury hotels?

Guests could receive a complimentary box of Lemaire chocolates during check-in.

It would reinforce the luxury experience and encourage people to share it online.

ANDRÉ

Here we go…

ANDRÉ

She never learns.

NATHALIE

…

Thank you, Emilia.

We’ll… keep that in mind.

(Emilia smiles, convinced her idea was well received.)

NATHALIE

Moving on.

(She changes the presentation slide.)

NATHALIE

Our next client.

If the decision had been mine…

this account wouldn’t be on today’s agenda.

Unfortunately…

the board believed otherwise.

So…

we’ll be taking it.

(The room becomes noticeably quieter.)

NATHALIE

The company manufactures medical products.

More specifically…

a premium haemorrhoid relief cream.

(Silence.)

NATHALIE

Since Emilia has demonstrated…

such remarkable creativity…

I’ve decided she’ll be leading this campaign.

(Another long silence.)

EMILIA

…

I’m sorry…

Did you say…

haemorrhoid cream?

NATHALIE

Yes.

EMILIA

…

Right.

I wasn’t expecting that.

ANDRÉ

Congratulations.

You wanted a challenge.

EMILIA

I hate you.

NATHALIE

The client is already waiting downstairs.

Let’s not disappoint them…

before we’ve even introduced ourselves.

Meeting adjourned.

  1. How would you feel if your manager asked you to lead a very unusual marketing campaign? Why?

  2. Do you think Emilia's idea about partnering with luxury hotels was a good one? Why or why not?
